Carried out in association with the Swedish EU Presidency 2009, the MANUFUTURE 2009 Conference aims to promote the implementation of a sustainable European manufacturing industry. Among confirmed speakers are Heinrich Flegel, Chairmain of Manufuture-EU, Leif Östling, President and CEO of Scania, and Tom Johnstone, President and CEO of SKF.

The Conference will include plenary sessions, workshops and industry visits, where sustainability will be seen from economic, ecological and social perspectives. The Conference will focus on new business models, competitive technologies, more eco-efficient products, as well as new paths in education and in cooperation between Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Here, the European industrialists will have the opportunity to present their companies’ best practices.

The theme “Factories of the Future” is also an important part of the agenda and will be presented by Herbert von Bose, Director of DG Research – Industrial Technologies, European Commission.
